Jamie Lee Curtis became visibly emotional when discussing the raging Los Angeles wildfires on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show.

Colossal wind-driven wildfires are currently raging in several areas of California, with months worth of dry conditions and whipping winds causing total devastation.

Over 100,000 residents have been forced to flee their homes since the fires began on Tuesday (January 7), with at least five people being killed.

Some have described scenes as ‘truly apocalyptic’, while residents like Paris Hilton have noted that losing homes and over 1,000 structures is ‘something no one should ever have to experience’.

Another famous face who has spoken out on the wildfires is Jamie Lee Curtis, 66.

On Wednesday (8 January), she appeared alongside Jimmy Fallon, 50, to admit ‘everything’ in her neighbourhood had been engulfed by the blaze.

Noting that she ‘felt like crying’ due to the ‘beautiful welcome’ she’d received, the Halloween star said: “As you know, where I live is on fire right now. Literally, the entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning.

"It’s f**king gnarly, you guys. It’s a catastrophe in Southern California. Obviously there has been horrific fires in many places. This is literally where I live. Everything. The market I shop in, the schools my kids go to, friends.”

Curtis went on to reveal that ‘many, many, many' of her friends had lost their belongings in the devastation.

"I am obviously going to go home first thing tomorrow and be with my family and try to help my friends, but it is - just so I can tell you, if you know anybody on the West Coast or not, the American Red Cross, support them.

“They will come in and help people. Do anything you can, anything in your community to help people. Whether you need it or not now, you will need it.

"Give blood, donate, animal shelters.”

The Knives Out favourite added: “And remember, since I'm on the middle of a very big television show, for anybody living anywhere, have an emergency kit in your house.

“I'm an American Red Cross ambassador - have an emergency kit with prescription glasses, medicines, dog food, baby formula, all the things you need if you need to flee.”

As well as using The Tonight Show to spread the word, Curtis has been utilising her Instagram platform with six million followers to share images and videos from the Californian blaze.

“Our beloved neighborhood is gone,” she wrote alongside a video, showing a desolated area of Los Angeles.

“Our home is safe. So many others have lost everything. Help where you can. Thank you to the first responders and firefighters. @americanredcross.”

Aside another snap, which depicted a burning church in Palisades, Curtis wrote that she’d lost the building she ‘got sober in 25 years ago’.

“I think of all of the souls who came there for comfort and solace and all the baptisms and funerals and weddings and the thousands of people who reclaimed their lives through Sobriety,” she continued.

“Also, the women's club in the Palisades where I met many sober people. Both are gone. Tough times. We will persevere. God bless you all.”
