It's quite common for people to share innocent 'life hacks' online, those simple tips and tricks that might not be common knowledge, and Neil Patrick Harris probably thought he was doing just that when he shared his advice of how to bag extra-fresh fries from McDonalds.
The How I Met Your Mother star appeared on an episode of Jolly, where an array of food from McDonald's was laid out in front of them.
He pulled a face and said he wondered "How long ago you acquired these?" as they weren't filming in a restaurant.
The camera panned round to a producer, Boin, who was carrying the food in and they said "Just now!" joking, "She's out of breath!" from rushing to get the food to them, "She just sprinted."

"McDonald's probably has the best of the fast food fries," declared Harris.

“Here’s a pro tip. When you go to McDonald’s, if you order fries, order them fresh. You can order fresh fries” he advised.
The shocked host replied: “You can do that? Wow"
Harris continued: “If I’m going to order there, I get the two cheeseburger meal. And I say no onions. That means that they have to make them fresh. And then as long as they’re there, I say get the fresh fries”
The host joked: "They must love you."
Fans were left unimpressed by the exchange, sharing their thoughts on social media.
One fumed, calling the actor an 'annoying celebrity' who makes workers 'work harder for no reason and laughs about it'.
Another added: "The turnover of fries - unless you're there at some ridiculously weird time of the day - is so regular that they're pretty much 'fresh' all the time. It's pure w*** to demand 'fresh' fries."
"It's fast food man, leave those people alone," said one.

"I love how these life hacks are always like “if you’re annoying enough you can get service workers to do stuff for you”. Yeh like I knew that was an option, I choose not to do that," agreed another.
Referring to his character, another added: "This is the most barney stinson thing to do."
"They don’t have pre made sandwiches with onions they make them all fresh. People are so stupid," fumed another.
It turns out that many people have a lot of feelings about his well-meaning advice.
"Former McDonald's manager of 6 years. I assure you ordering the burger with no onions does not mean we make it fresh. It just means they don't put on onions lmao. You can ask for anything to be made to order. You'll wait 3 to 5 minutes but they'll do it," advised another.
"God I can't stand it when people lean in and say 'lemme give you a little tip' and it's some... you've heard literally 1,000 times but will never actually do" fumed another.
"I know people who use these 'tricks' all the time. 'Ask for well done fries' etc. I don't like it," swore one commenter.
Anyone else hungry now though?
