Molly Smith reveals whether she’s going to change her name after wedding to Tom Clare

Molly Smith has shared whether she plans to change her name after tying the knot with Tom Clare last month in a gorgeous Mallorca ceremony.

The newlyweds, who won the first series of Love Island: All Stars in 2024, officially became husband and wife back in July, in an intimate courthouse wedding in Stockport, before flying abroad with their friends and family to celebrate with a larger ceremony and party a month later.

After sharing stunning photos of their big days, fans of the pair have been dying to know one thing and flooding Molly’s comments with the same question - is she going to change her name?

Speaking exclusively to Tyla, the reality TV star confirmed that she will legally become Mrs. Clare, but when it comes to her professional life, she won’t be rushing to swap her surname.

Molly explained: “I am going to legally change my name. I couldn’t at the minute because if I changed it after the legal wedding, I wouldn’t have made the abroad wedding because of my passport.”

She continued: “And then we’ve obviously just had a minimoon, so I’m gonna legally change it, probably in the next few weeks.”

“As for right now, with Instagram and stuff, we’ve discussed this, and I don’t really see much point in changing everything. It’s quite a lengthy process as well.”

Tom agreed: “That’s kind of your brand, isn’t it, your name. I’m not bothered by that, as long as you change it legally,” he joked.

However, Molly reasoned that she might well change her mind in ‘a few months or years,’ but ‘not at this moment in time’.

Molly laughed: “I’ve seen people comment it as well, like, ‘waiting for the name change!’ I’m like, oh my God, I’m panicking.

“Legally, I will, but no, at the minute, I’m not going to be changing any of my handles online.”

The couple, who have just been on a minimoon to Bodrum, Turkey, and are due to fly to South Africa for their Honeymoon in the New Year, also opened up on their favourite moments from their wedding day.

Molly recalled: “One standout is when I saw Tom when I was walking down the aisle, cause I was terrified to do that, and the feeling of just calmness that came over me. And then when I got there, Tom was just like, a little chatterbox and couldn’t stop talking to me. He actually tried to kiss me, and I had to dodge him, like, we can’t yet!”

She told her new husband: “I don’t remember really seeing anybody else but you; it’s like a weird out-of-body experience.”

While Tom agreed that Molly walking down the aisle with her dad was his number one moment, he also loved the party at the end with all their friends and family.

The Love Islander said: “Everyone was just singing and dancing; if I could just keep myself in that moment and feeling, I would.”

And the celebrations ended with some good old drunken antics, as the bride and groom and their closest Love Island pals all ended up with matching tattoos of tequila shots.

Tom hilariously admitted he was ‘six tequila shots deep at this point’ and ‘never thought he’d get a tattoo,’ but ended up matching with pals Josh Ritchie, Mitch Taylor, Sophie Piper and Casey O’Gorman.

Explaining how it went down, Molly told Tyla: “Me and Tom were gonna get tattoos anyway, which we got at home. So I was googling tattoo parlours in Mallorca, saying, let’s just do it while we’re out here, it makes more sense.

“I found one that was only like fifteen minutes away, and then it was just a collective unanimous decision from everyone. I don’t know how it snowballed into that, but it was great.”
