Halle Berry's ex-husband David Justice has spoken out about why the couple split - and it's safe to say fans are not happy with his comments.
The former professional baseball player, 59, was married to the actress, 58, for four years between 1993 and 1997.
And in a new appearance on the All The Smoke podcast last week, the sports star didn't mince his words when he controversially explained why their marriage didn't work out and what led him to call it quits.
Speaking of Berry, he brutally recalled: "She asked me to marry her after knowing me for five months. I don’t know if my heart was really into it.

"But I didn’t want to make her feel bad and say no. I was just in the moment, it caught me off-guard. We’re getting along, we’re vibing, again, we’re only five months in, we’re still in the honeymoon stage."
He then went on to shockingly explain that he compared Halle to his mother and realised she didn't 'cook and clean' like his mum did - yes, really.

Justice, who is now married to entrepreneur Rebecca Villalobos, said: "I’m looking at my mom, I’m a Midwest guy. So in my mind, I’m thinking a wife at that time should cook, clean, and I’m thinking OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?

"And at that time, as a young guy, she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem like motherly. Eventually, I realise this isn’t the person I wanted to spend my life with."
However, he went on to admit that he thinks the couple 'probably could have made it' if he knew about therapy.
He continued: "It’s just that I, because I was young, had only been in honestly one real relationship before her. My knowledge and my understanding and my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast."
The internet has understandably been left in disbelief at the comments, with people dubbing his remarks as 'sexist,' and saying that he was he was 'looking for a housekeeper, not a partner'.

One X (Twitter) user wrote: "Men are so annoying. They’re looking for their mother. We’re in 2025," while a second added: "Sounds like he was looking for a housekeeper, not a partner."
"So he was looking for a nanny and a maid and chef???" questioned another baffled social media user.

While someone else asked: "If she’s a famous actor and he’s a professional baseball player why do you need her to cook and clean if you can afford a chef with maids????"

And another penned: "Halle Berry, a household name, was supposed to take time away from her breadwinning career to 'cook and clean' for a man I’ve never heard of?!"
Over on Instagram, other fans chimed in with: "Imagine leaving Halle Berry because you don’t get casseroles."
"So we’re reducing motherhood to cooking and cleaning… right…" added another.
