The 2026 Golden Globes proved an almighty evening for Timothée Chalamet, who swooped in last night, stealing an accolade that many film critics believed had been promised to Leonardo DiCaprio.

Despite the 30-year-old's somewhat unexpected win, his girlfriend Kylie Jenner has been accused of tanking his success, after a rather NSFW image of her went viral online.

For those who missed it, as well as Oscar-winner DiCaprio, Chalamet was up against the likes of George Clooney, Ethan Hawke, Lee Byung-Hun and Jesse Plemons in the Lead Actor in a Comedy or Musical category.

Despite being the youngest, the stars aligned for Chalamet, who bagged the impressive accolade for his role in table tennis heist hit Marty Supreme.

"My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up," he said on stage while accepting the award. "Always be grateful for what you have.

"It has allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here but I would be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this one that much sweeter."

Giving a special shout-out to his invited guest, 28-year-old reality TV star Jenner, Chalamet added: "For my parents, for my partner, I love you, thank you so much."

As we say, however, despite many onlookers congratulating the young star, some hard-faced critics have also taken the opportunity to call out Chalamet's other-half, accusing Jenner of 'ruining' the night with a later viral moment.

The incident in question saw the couple photographed sitting side-by-side inside the venue, with The Kardashians star holding up two middle fingers and sticking out her tongue, and her actor beau appearing totally unamused next to her.

Taking to Instagram, one user hit out of the photo: "Kylie completely ruined his moment giving the middle finger. So tacky and sad. Can’t buy class."

Another agreed: "I don't dislike either of them, but that first picture is a whole thing. Probably not the look they were going for but maybe they are trolling?"

"Kylie literally didn’t grow up past 17 I see," a third claimed.

"The face of, sigh…yup that’s my partner everyone," a fourth continued.

In the face of the backlash, however, a number of fans have defended the couple, insisting Chalamet and Jenner are young enough to have some fun.

"They have probably chosen the one shot from the entire night in which he wasn’t looking absolutely besotted by her," one explained. "I don’t really care for either of them that much, but the weird narrative being pushed around Yylie is getting so old."

The same user added: "They’re so clearly happy together; pls find a new narrative to run with."

Another agreed, pointing out: "Y’all lost or what??!?! The Golden Globes are the fun awards!"

An X user also claimed: "They’re having fun love seeing that side of them."
