Suits star Gabriel Macht has been out of the limelight since he fled the US with his family and hung up his acting shoes.

You’ll remember Macht for playing the titular character Harvey Specter in the popular TV series from 2011 until 2019.

However, once he wrapped up, he made the choice to call it quits.

The 53-year-old actor, who is married to Bridget Jones star and model Jacinda Barrett, revealed all when talking about his family.

The pair share a daughter Satine, 17, and a son called Luca, 10, who have been integral to his decision to leave Hollywood.

Talking to Insider TV, he explained: “I have a real sense of freedom having now finished it. And I’m happy. I feel I’ve put some creative good into the world, and now I want to put some creative heart, more focus and energy into [being with] my wife and my family.”

Then, speaking with Woman’s Day, he explained that his choice to leave acting was for his family, and noted that even though his character's life was full of ambition and work, he wanted to have a more balanced and fulfilling life.

After leaving the US, the actor explained he now keeps his living situation private.

"I don’t tell anybody where I live because I like to keep that under wraps," he told People. "I got out of town and we’re exploring the world."

Macht shared that his plans were initially put on pause following the pandemic, explaining: "Right before COVID, we wanted to take the kids out of school and homeschool them.

"But then we got stuck and so we were in Manhattan. That just wasn’t doing it for us. We decided to explore the world, so we left."

Having left a role where he only wore suits, it seems as though he’s also taken to wearing them in his new career too as he's now also a creative partner and executive shareholder in Bear Fight Whiskey.

"I had very little interest in coming back to work as an actor right now, because I spent so much time [doing it] and this was my time to really raise my kids and to do this creative stuff, like Bear Fight," he told People.

“I feel I’ve put some creative good into the world,” he added.

After having amassed a $8m fortune, it’s no surprise that changing his career to be something he’s passionate about and allows for more family time would be the right choice.

However, if you thought this meant that he would be missing from the upcoming spinoff, Suits LA, don’t worry.

He shared that it made 'sense' for his family of four to reprise his role.

"We're trying to figure out how to incorporate Bear Fight into [an episode]," Macht said.

He also revealed he quite liked the idea of being able to 'sort of pass the baton to Stephen [Amell] and the cast in LA'.
