People only just realising why Suits is called that

Despite being one of the most successful legal dramas of the age, fans of the USA Network series Suits are apparently only just realising why it has that exact title.

And - spoiler alert! - it's not just because they all wear suits...

For those who haven't yet sank their teeth into an episode of this big-name hit - first of all, what have you been doing all your life?

Anyway, the show follows a supremely intelligent university expellee named Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) who accidentally falls into a job interview for a prestigious, big-city law firm.

After immediately impressing bosses and keeping his controversial history under the radar, he and charismatic attorney Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) are paired up together, taking on some of the city's biggest court cases.

Of course, Ross' identity comes out and he gets into trouble, but thankfully Pearson Hardman chairs keep him on, and he spends the next seasons relishing a luxurious life as a prolific lawyer.

Naturally, this also sees several love interests drifting in and out of the series - including Ross' main love interest Rachel Zane (played by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle) - while the likes of Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres appear as fellow colleagues.

Both cast and crew members of Suits have been nominated for several awards for their contribution to the series, with Adams having been put up for a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2012.

You'd think, therefore, that a series this successful would boast a colossal fan-base - and while it does, many binge-watching viewers have recently admitted they didn't know why Suits was titled as such.

Well, the show's creator Aaron Korsh recently revealed that the title is, in fact, a triple entendre.

The revelation was made after a fan of the award-winning series tweeted: "Soooo I'm on S7E15 and I don't know what was said that made me realize that the show name #Suits isn't just about the clothes.

"I mean I love a good suit! But not the bad kind of #Suit Double meaning. Very clever, great fit! Pay! The writers! #paythewriters"

Korsh then revealed a third reason.

Replying, he wrote: "It’s actually a triple meaning. The suits they wear, lawsuits and people who work in business are called suits. However, to be fair, the one who came up with the name was Alex Sepiol, the executive at USA Network.

Apparently the show isn't solely named after their outfits (USA Network/Netflix)

"Without Alex, #Suits would never have made it to air."

The more you know, eh?

Back in November Mike Ross actor Adams revealed the reason why he left the show back in 2018 after seven seasons.

Appearing on the Dinner's On Me podcast, Adams firstly admitted: "I wasn’t taking good care of my mental health and I was drinking too much [at] the end of season seven.

"I was in a zone of living a pretty unexamined life. Pretty miserable [and] I would say, pretty depressed."

He went on: "I didn’t have the tools to deal with that depression beyond just spending money and drinking too much, and not really knowing how to talk about it."

Just months prior to his exit from Suits, he became a father for the first time when the couple welcomed a daughter named Aurora.

"That for me was a breaking point when I was like, ‘I think I should stop drinking probably, because I don’t wanna be that dad'," he admitted. "The best thing I think I ever did for myself was stop drinking. It just needed to happen in order for all these other things to happen."
