Ellen DeGeneres has returned to the United States with a new look, despite fleeing to UK after making a major vow.

The 66-year-old comedian, who hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show, reportedly made the move due to Donald Trump's recent presidential re-election following the loss of Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.

Her move overseas also came after she took aim at toxicity in Hollywood as part of her recent Netflix special, For Your Approval.

In July 2020, 10 former employees of The Ellen DeGeneres Show accused her of creating a 'toxic' atmosphere on set, which included 'racism, fear, and intimidation'.

This included her allegedly failing to act upon suggestions of executives sexually harassing female employees, 'making racist micro-aggressions' to or about employees of colour, firing people for using medical and bereavement leave, and replacing her crew with non-union workers during the Coronavirus pandemic.

In September 2020, Ellen made an onscreen apology to viewers, saying: "I learned that things happened here that should never have happened. I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power, and I realise that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens at my show."

Now, just months after her move across the pond, Ellen has been spotted in Montecito, California, donning a dark jumper, blue jeans and white trainers on Tuesday (14 January).

However, her signature blonde 'do was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, Ellen was sporting short-cut grey hair - a look many fans of hers have never seen before.

This comes after the 66-year-old talk show host seemed to address her past controversies, saying in her Netflix stand-up routine: "Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me. I got chickens."

Ellen then added: "Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean. Next time, I’ll be kicked out for being old. Old, gay and mean, the triple crown."

She later added: "This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”

Ellen has since opened up further about her public reception following the release of the Netflix special, saying: "When you’re a public figure, you’re open to everyone’s interpretation.

"And I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that, 'What other people think of me is none of my business'. Because people will say all kinds of things and you have no control over that.

"But you know the truth and that’s all that matters."

The comedian's return to the States come as Los Angeles battles multiple devastating wildfires, which have left thousands of homes destroyed and claimed 25 lives.
