“I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV-positive and I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of sub-truths and very harmful stories that I am threatening the health of others, which couldn’t be farther from the truth," he said.
Sheen said he had begun to have ‘crushing headaches and insane migraines' as well as night sweats.

But the subject of his formative years hasn’t been as widely known.
What we do know is that his father is Martin Sheen, a legendary actor in his own right.
He revealed in the Netflix film, aka Charlie Sheen, that he’d grown up in a nudist household for a time as a kid.
He said: “Maybe for a month, or five, I don’t know. I’m 5, walking into the kitchen, and there’s my naked parents.”

The film covers much about Sheen’s upbringing, including the moment he lost his virginity.
Sheen also wrote about losing his virginity in his memoir, Book of Sheen, which was published on 9 September.
He claimed it was to a Las Vegas escort, and it was ‘everything [he’d] hoped for.’
He explained it occurred at 15 when he was a high school sophomore.

The 60-year-old said it happened when he and a friend called Joey ‘borrowed’ his dad’s credit card to pay for the service.
He said the ‘gorgeous redhead … responded with a level of physical generosity neither of us knew existed’ and: “She was [actress] Ann-Margret in her prime with a Mastercard swiper’.
He wrote: “I didn’t care that the swipe took longer than the sex. It was everything … I could have imagined.”

He explained that between the two boys, he ‘went first’ and that the woman asked him to ‘wake Dad up for an autograph’.
Sheen went on to recall that when his father found out about the encounter, he was lectured for two hours on ‘sex versus love'.
Sheen wrote: “I kept stressing how gorgeous Candy was and what a great deal Dad and I both got for the price. The look on his face told me we were done.”
As for his dad’s reaction to his revelations in the book, Sheen went on Good Morning America and said his dad simply said: “Your use of humor in your darkest moments is a gift to the reader.”
What was also noted in the film, was that Sheen's name was exposed as a client of ‘Hollywood Madam’ Heidi Fleiss in 1995, after he used traveller's cheques to pay for one of her escort’s services.
Fleiss was interviewed in the documentary and spoke about Sheen testifying against her in court.
In the end, Fleiss was convicted of tax evasion and money laundering and was then sentenced to 37 months in prison.
