Britney Spears' recent arrest has drawn public responses from two of her exes, including Sam Asghari.

The 44-year-old was apprehended by California Highway Patrol officers on Thursday (4 Mar) for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, before being taken into custody. She was released in the early hours of the following morning.

According to police records, Spears had been 'driving erratically at a high rate of speed', and showed signs of 'impairment', for which she 'submitted to a series of field sobriety tests'.

The musician's agent later issued a statement acknowledging that Spears is in need of 'long overdue change'.

"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable," her representatives began. "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.

"Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."

Her agent added of the 'Circus' star's two sons: "Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being."

As we say, in light of last week's news, two of Spears' former flames have since issued statements - the first being Sam Asghari.

Asghari gave an interview to Fox News on Friday (6 Mar) where he told presenters he 'understands' that mistakes are made.

The Iranian-born model began by claiming much of his attention has been focused on the ongoing US-Israeli military strikes on Iran, before adding: "When it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that."

The 32-year-old continued: "I think that everyone deserves privacy. And I hope the press has learned from the past that they give her the privacy that she needs."

Asghari began dating Spears in 2016, going on to propose six years later. Exactly one year and one month later, however, the couple separated, with a Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County signing off on their divorce in May 2024.

The fitness trainer wasn’t the only one of Spears' exes to address her most recent arrest, however.

Speaking to TMZ through his lawyers on Friday (6 Mar), her first ex-husband, Kevin Federline, also expressed his concern that this may not be the first time such an arrest has been made.

Mark Vincent Kaplan told the publication, which first broke the news of Spears' run-in with the law: "Kevin hopes for the best for Britney, and if help is necessary, he hopes that she will neither resist it nor those who are attempting to work with her."

"The concern is whether this is just a one off or a one more."

Federline first met Spears when hired as one of her back-up dancers in 2004. Three months after striking up a romantic relationship, the pair tied the knot before going on to welcome two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

Since the 'Toxic' singer's public breakdown in 2007, which cost her custody of her sons, Federline - who filed for divorce the same year - has predominantly raised the twosome, who currently live in Hawaii alongside their father's new partner, Victoria Prince.
