Britney Spears has confirmed a move out of the United States and into Mexico, and revealed the emotional reason why.
The 43-year-old 'Baby One More Time' singer, who infamously broke free of her controversial conservatorship in 2021, has always had a tempestuous relationship with the paparazzi.
On her most recent birthday (2 December), Britney shared that the driving force behind her shock move was a result of this.

She said in an Instagram video: "It really kind of hurts my feelings that the paparazzi make my face look like I'm wearing, like a white Jason mask. It doesn't even look like me.
"They've always been incredibly cruel to me, the paparazzi, and pictures... the way they've illustrated me."
She continued: "I know I'm not perfect at all by any means, but some of it is extremely mean and cruel. That's why I've moved to Mexico."
Britney was spotted landing in Cabo San Lucas on her birthday in sunglasses, a trench coat and a black hat.
Her birthday was a huge day, not only marked by her move across the border and becoming a year older.
It was also the day that Britney became legally single following her split from ex-husband, dancer Sam Asghari.
The couple separated last year and their divorce was settled back in May, but despite this, documents secured by E! News show that the legal date of separation was in fact 2 December, 2024.
Speaking to the same outlet earlier this year, 30-year-old Sam recalled happy memories with his now ex-wife.
He said: "You learn so much from being in relationships in general. I appreciate all the amazing experiences that I got."
He added: "I wish her the best. She's an amazing person and a huge part of my life and I always appreciate the moments we had together."
Sam filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
In response, Britney posted a statement on Instagram on 19 August last year.
She wrote: "6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business.
"But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly. In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you.
"I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that.
"I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses."
