Britney Spears has claimed her dad Jamie 'always' told her she was 'fat' and even put her on a strict diet as part of her conservatorship.
Britney, 41, has released a tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, detailing the rollercoaster of ‘freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope’ that she has been through.
“In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court,” the book’s synopsis says.

“The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey – and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop history.”
In the memoir, Britney discusses the difficult relationship she had with dad Jamie Spears, who served as Britney’s conservator until 2021.
At one point, she claimed that her father was ‘always’ telling her she looked ‘fat’, and even put her on a ‘strict diet’ in a bid to reduce her weight.
“So for two years, I ate almost nothing but chicken and canned vegetables,” Britney said.
“Two years is a long time to not be able to eat what you want, especially when it’s your body and your work and your soul making the money that everyone’s living off of.”
She also said she had a butler and would ‘beg him for real food’ like hamburgers or ice cream, but that she was always allegedly denied due to ‘strict orders’ from Jamie.
“Two years of asking for french fries and being told no,” the singer said.
“I found it so degrading.”
Britney went on to say that she was ‘scared’ and ‘f**king miserable’, having been so deprived of food that it felt like her body ‘wasn’t hers anymore’.
All of the alleged restrictions placed on her also ended up having an adverse effect, with the star saying that she ended up gaining weight – the ‘opposite effect’ to what her father allegedly wanted.
“Even though I wasn’t eating as much, he made me feel so ugly and like I wasn’t good enough,” she said.
“Maybe that’s because of the power of your thoughts: whatever you think you are, you become.”
