Britney Spears Fans Celebrate As Dad Jamie Files ‘Immediate Termination Of Conservatorship’

The popstar is one step closer towards freedom.

Britney Spears’ conservatorship may be about to end, after it was reported that her father Jamie has requested the controversial legal agreement is “immediately terminated.”

In court documents obtained by People magazine, Jamie’s lawyer, Alex Weingarten, has filed forms to end the court order.

In papers filed on 1st November, Weingarten wrote that Jamie believed: “Britney’s recent testimony and requests to take personal control of her estate and affairs have made clear that continuing the conservatorship is contrary to her desires.

“Jamie sees no reason why the conservatorship should continue for any amount of time and asserts he has no interest in the conservatorship continuing.”

The papers also made clear that Jamie was not seeking any “compensation”.

“Jamie unconditionally loves and supports his daughter. Full stop. As he has done for her entire life, Jamie will do everything he can to protect and care for her,” the papers read.

“For the last 13 years, that included serving as her conservator. Now, it means ending her conservatorship.”

The reports have been welcomed by fans, who have written #FreeBritney on social media in support of the ‘Toxic’ singer.

“God bless her for speaking out,” one person wrote, while another added: “Finally.”

Britney has been vocal about no longer wanting to be part of the controversial conservatorship which she has been locked in to since 2008.

She recently gave an impassioned plea in court about having the order, which saw her father and other entities control her financial, personal and legal matters, removed completely.

Speaking via video link, the singer told the courts: “I just want my life back. All I want is to own my money and for my boyfriend to be able to drive me in his car. I want to sue my family."

The mother-of-two added: "It's not OK to force me to do anything I don't want to. The conservatorship should end. I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive.

Britney’s next conservatorship meeting takes place on 12th November, where judges will decide whether the court order can be lifted permanently.
