Kevin Federline, the estranged ex-husband of Britney Spears, has made a number of damning new allegations against the former pop star, including that she'd watch their sons sleep with a knife in her hand.
The 47-year-old's comments were made in his debut memoir, You Thought You Knew, which is set to be released in the coming weeks.
Having obtained a copy of the incoming self-written work, however, The New York Times have been cross-referencing the handful of controversial claims Federline has made about his 'Toxic' chart-topping ex.
For those in need of a reminder, Federline was Spears' former back-up dancer. In a surpise to most, the couple tied the knot in a Studio City, California wedding back in 2004, after just three months of dating.

The following year, they welcomed their first child together, a son named Sean Preston, now 20.

Their second, another baby boy named Jayden James, now 19, was welcomed into the world in 2006.
By 2007, Spears had filed for divorce from Federline, citing irreconcilable differences.

Tragically for the 'Oops!... I Did It Again!' hit-maker, however, her public break-up coincided with her mental health battles, which saw her placed under a controlling conservatorship by her own father, Jamie, the following year.
As a result, a judge deemed that she was no longer in a fit state to make her own decisions, and handed custody of Spears' sons to Federline.
In his jaw-dropping new biography, the father-of-two has recalled the early days of 43-year-old Spears' personal struggles, making a number of alarming allegations about her behaviour at the time.
On more than one occasion, he claims, he found Spears standing over his two sons as they slept, armed with a knife.

Federline writes of his boys: "They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — 'Oh, you’re awake?' — with a knife in her hand.

"Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation."
In a statement to US Weekly, a representative of the musician attempted to deny Federline's claims, accusing him of rinsing her misery for cash.

"With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her," the statement began. "And sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism."
Elsewhere in his memoir, Federline went on to voice his concern over Spears' current mental health state, amidst ever-growing concern from fans over the 'erratic' videos she uploads to social media.
Believing she is 'racing toward something irreversible', he continued: "It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour.
"Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces."

Federline also went on to discuss the '#FreeBritney' movement, which famously assisted in Spears' escape from her conservatorship after 13 years, believing it may have inflicted more harm than good.
"Now, more than ever, [our children] need your support," he continued. "I’ve been their buffer for years, but now it’s bigger than me It’s time to sound the alarm."
