Following the termination of her controversial conservatorship back in 2021, Britney Spears fans hoped things would finally start looking up for the noughties singer.

The 'Toxic' hitmaker previously had no control over her finances, whether or not she received visitors, and doctors directed their medical advice to her father.

And after years of concern over her wellbeing, fans were delighted when the '#FreeBritney' movement had an impact, and she was ruled to be freed of the restrictions that were previously placed on her life.

Over recent months, however, concerns have arisen again over the 41-year-old superstar's mental and physical health.

Erratic Instagram dance videos, her estranged sons, divorce papers and admissions in her brand new best-selling memoir all seem to imply that Britney is in need of some extra support at this time.

And this week, the mother-of-two has seemingly confirmed that fans' 'suspicions that something's going on' were valid, adding that what she's gone through.

She made the admission in statement posted on Instagram on Wednesday (29 November), which she cryptically paired with a scene from the animated Beauty and the Beast movie, in which the narrator explains how Prince Adam transformed into the beast.

She wrote: "I started writing my book two years ago and in those moments in my personal life, I kept to myself !!!"

"Not only was my personal life kept secret, but it felt equivalent to 20 years of hard times that I wrote about in my book !!!

"Can you imagine a 2007 that lasted for three years that nobody even knows about???" Britney went on.

Britney shared her statement on Instagram.

"It’s over now and I’m incredibly sad about those times !!!"

Britney was placed under the conservatorship back in 2007 following her very public mental breakdown, during which she infamously shaved her head.

She has since claimed that the arrangement, which placed her under the watchful eye of her father Jamie Spears, was abusive.

"It’s weird cause although I do Instagram, I don’t follow social media, the news, and the fan chatter !!!

"I’ve been doing that this week and it’s weird cause it feels like a lot of fans already kind of know me and they (sic) way they speak is incredibly kind."

"They always a suspicion that something’s going on !!!! Well guess what Britney nerds … you were 100 percent right !!!," she continued to admit.

Fans have been worried about Britney for years.

"I don’t have time to speak about any of it cause at this particular moment it’s beyond comprehension !!!"

Despite opting not to detail exactly which aspects of her life impacted her the most, her statement concluded with a nod to the 1991 Disney film.

"Here’s a clip of my favorite movie !!!! Looks are deceiving !!! I’ve been turned down by so many and incredibly hurt by many. In a world where looks have always been important … where vanity lies … it’s the secret to steal a man’s heart !!!!"
