The 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' star passed away following a battle with cancer

The much-loved daughter of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June Shannon has sadly passed away.

Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell had been battling adrenal cancer in recent months, which had tragically escalated to stage 4.

Mama June herself announced her daughter Anna's death on Instagram on Sunday 10 December, revealing that she'd died aged just 29.

Sharing the news in an emotional post at the weekend, however, Mama June, 44, wrote on Instagram: "With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us.

"She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM."

Mama June - real name June Edith Stroud (nee Shannon) - went on: "She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today.

"We love y’all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family [during] this difficult time," she added to the heartbreaking family photo.

Anna passed away this weekend aged 29.

The snap saw Anna - who was diagnosed with adrenal cancer after complaining of stomach pain - showing of her short hair whilst in he midst of her cancer treatments.

Thousands of tributes to the late reality star were then posted by fans in the photo's comment section.

"I'm so sorry for your loss, sending love to the whole family," one follower penned.

Another added: "Most of us watched Anna grow watching Here comes honey boo boo.. I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is the worst thing anyone could ever go through. June we all love you and your crew. Rest In Peace Anna."

"Oh Mama June.. I am so so incredibly sorry. I’m so happy she got to spend the time she had with her family and that the relationship was rekindled. Hugs and positive energy your way. RIP Anna," a third added.

Mama June shared the news of her daughter's death.

It is understood that adrenal carcinoma - which affects the kidney's adrenal glands that produce hormones delivering instructions to every vital organ in the body - is a somewhat rare form of cancer.

Anna - who underwent both chemotherapy and immunotherapy - leaves behind two daughters, Kaitlyn, 11, and Kylee, eight.

Her family shot to fame after starring in the reality series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, which centred on Anna's youngest sister Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Shannon's life with her mother, father and three siblings.

Although Anna wasn't considered the main star of the show, she stole the hearts of millions of viewers after birth to daughter Kaitlyn in the finale of the first season.

Anna had been diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer.

Mama June told her fans about Anna's diagnosis earlier this year, saying: "We know it's terminal. She's stage 4. She's not gonna go into remission.

"We've all accepted that, so I just tell people one day at a time 'cause you never know."

Just two days before Anna's passing, the US reality star implored with her huge social media following to pray for her ailing daughter.

"Y’all we are asking for prayers for our family as we are going through this process," she told her followers.

"We really appreciate y’all for all the thoughts and prayers and we will update y’all whenever we can.

Just know that all of your thoughts and your prayers are very much appreciated during this time, she explained, adding the hashtags, '#mamajune #cancersucks #family #prayers."
