
The Beach Boys singer Brian Wilson has died aged 82, with his family releasing an official statement following the tragic news.
The official statement reads: "We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now.
"Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.

The beloved American rock band, famous for hits like 'Surfin' U.S.A', 'Wouldn't It Be Nice', 'Kokomo' and 'California Girls', formed in California back in 1961, with the group's original lineup consisting of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine.
Just two more of the original members of the Beach Boys are still alive: Mike Love and Al Jardine, as Dennis drowned in 1983 while Carl Wilson died of lung cancer in 1998.

Tributes have since flooded in across the world following the news of Brian's passing, with one X user writing: "Thank you to Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys for your timeless and classic music. I hope you are up there riding the biggest wave with your brother Carl. Godspeed to you."
A second penned: "A true artist of feeling and sound. Brian Wilson, rest in melody."
A third added: "Thank you so much Brian Wilson for making the best music I’ve ever heard, my life was changed for the better once i found the Beach Boys, I will forever appreciate you for bringing me songs I will cherish for the rest of my life."
