Adam Lambert once opened up about the reason why he switched from Ozempic to Mounjaro after revealing his drastic weight loss.

Earlier this week, the NHS made the major announcement that Mounjaro is now available for a limited number of patients in the UK and, in light of the news, many Brits have been keen on knowing all they can about the weight loss drug, how it works, its 'very common' side effects and real-life reviews from people who have actually taken it.

Many are also looking to celebrities who have previously opened up about taking Mounjaro - which works by regulating blood sugar and energy balance levels, helping to reduce appetite and prevent cravings - and hearing about their experiences.

One of which is none other than 43-year-old American Idol star Adam Lambert, who shedded around 60lbs during his weight loss journey and has previously confirmed he switched from Ozempic to Mounjaro prior to his transformation.

Adam Lambert's experience on Mounjaro

Speaking in an Instagram Live, Lambert previously told fans: "I'm dropping some tea on you guys right now. I've been on Mounjaro for the last I think, what, eight months?"

The medication has been growing in popularity on social media, with plenty of those who claim to have used it raving about their results.

Hitting back at critics, Adam said: "I feel amazing. I still eat, but I eat lighter, and I eat less, and I know that there's a lot of chatter about 'Oh, you're taking it away from diabetes patients'.

"I mean, quite frankly, that's the pharmaceutical industry's issue, not mine. They need to keep up with production."

The 'Whataya Want from Me' singer said he was originally prescribed Ozempic to help him regulate his blood sugar, and said the weight loss was a bonus. However, he experienced severe side effects and couldn't carry on.

"When I switched to Mounjaro, a lot of those symptoms went away and I had hardly any side effects and I feel incredible," he said.

"I feel better, I feel more confident. I feel like my actual body feels better, like my digestive system feels more regulated."

  • Make sure to inject yourself with the treatment at the same time and day each week so your body has a regular interval between each dose.
  • Stay hydrated, sipping water and other clear liquids if you’re experiencing nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea. It may also help to eat smaller meals more regularly and avoid anything that smells or tastes too strong.
  • If you’re struggling with constipation, increase your fibre intake, stay well hydrated and try eating small fruits such as prunes, figs or grapes. Make sure you’re also getting regular activity, such as going on short walks.
  • To ease a headache, spend time in a quiet space to relax, take a simple pain relief medicine like paracetamol, drink plenty of water, and try relaxation techniques such as meditation and DIY scalp massage.

A spokesperson for Novo Nordisk told Tyla: "The most common adverse events among people treated with Ozempic (semaglutide injection) for its indicated use, are gastrointestinal events including nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting. Most events were transient, and mild or moderate in severity and resolved without permanent treatment discontinuation.

"GLP-1 RAs are a well-established class of medicines, which have demonstrated safety in clinical trials. In the STEP trials, semaglutide 2.4mg was generally well-tolerated both in adults with obesity, or overweight with comorbidities, and without type 2 diabetes (STEP 1, 3 and 4), and in adults with type 2 diabetes and overweight or obesity (STEP 2).
