Euphoria was easily the most-talked about series last summer, with its glitter, partying and sinister-sub plots meaning many UK fans likened it to 2007 series Skins.

Created by Sam Levinson, the gritty teen drama is an American adaptation of an Israeli series of the same name, and offered a fresh perspective on the lives of Gen-Z high schoolers, exploring their struggles with social media, dating, and addiction.

But fans were gutted when the much awaited second season were put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, Zendaya - who plays Rue in the show - has confirmed it's back with two special episodes to bide the time, sharing the exciting update on social media.

Teasing that people would be able to check in on their favourite characters soon, she wrote in an Instagram post: "We really missed them. Two special Euphoria episodes coming soon.

"First one December 6th on @hbo."

"Omg! EXACTLY what my heart needed! I can't wait!," wrote one person in the comments.

Meanwhile, another penned: "OHH MY GOD IM SO HAPPY".

As a third simply wrote: "AAHHHHHHHHH," alongside a load of celebratory emojis.

Euphoria was meant to start filming season 2 back in March, but the pandemic meant that it wasn't safe to do so.

Speaking to Variety, Zendaya previously said: "We were supposed to go back to work, I believe, on March 16, and, literally, three or four days before that, they were shut down.

"I was like, 'I was so close.' We did camera tests and hair and makeup tests, and we got to see everybody and we had the sets were built."

In August, she teased that a reunion episode could be coming, and opened up on what form it could take, while on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

"I don't really know how to describe it, but an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment that can... I don't know, give people something," she said.

In case you need a reminder of Euphoria Season 1, there was everything from a banging soundtrack by Labrinth, One Direction animated fan erotica and 30 penises in a single episode (we mean, who wouldn't love his show?!)

After she and kind-of girlfriend Jules (Hunter Schafer) parted ways on the train platform, Rue (Zendaya) broke her three-month sobriety and attempted to numb the heartbreak with painkillers.

Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), with the support of her mother and sister Lexi (Maude Apatow), headed to the abortion clinic after she fell pregnant with McKay's (Algee Smith) baby. Meanwhile, Maddy (Alexa Demie) discovered the truth about Nate's (Jacob Elordi) father.

They don't things by halves on HBO (or Sky Atlantic on this side of the pond).

As for any more details on the two new episodes? We guess we'll have to wait until December to find out what's to come...

We're just so happy Rue and the gang are back!
