Old Episodes Of 'Gavin & Stacey' Are Returning To Telly

Old Episodes Of 'Gavin & Stacey' Are Returning To Telly

We have 'well lush' news, everyone. In a bid to cheer up an isolating nation, the BBC is airing old episodes of Gavin & Stacey. Yesss!

The episodes are set to air weekly from Saturday 4th April on BBC One, kicking off with the sitcom's first ever episode from Series 1.

With so many of the UK's big events cancelled due to the isolation measures in place since COVID-19 struck, the Beeb has now announced a range of programmes that will "bring the nation together and provide great British entertainment during these difficult times," as well as give people something to "look forward to from the comfort of their own homes".

You read our minds, guys. We literally cannot wait to see Gavin (Mathew Horne), Stacey (Joanna Page), Smithy (James Cordon), Nessa (Ruth Jones), Pam (Alison Steadman) and Bryn (Rob Brydon) back being their hilarious selves. From not sharing curry (Smithy, we're looking at you) to Pam being the worst vegetarian ever - it's all just too hilarious.

So whilst Gavin & Stacey is the most crackin' offering they've got in the line up so far, it's not the only show the BBC is bringing back.

It will also show classics like Outnumbered on Saturday nights, also from April 4th (which will follow Gavin & Stacey), as well as Peter Kay's Car Share on Fridays over the summer.

NGL, this is the best news we've had all week.

But it's not just oldies the broadcaster is delivering. It has also found a way of keeping some of its favourite weekly shows going, including The Graham Norton Show, Have I Got News For You and The Mash Report, which will all be recorded as live in the week leading up to transmission.

Director-General Tony Hall says: "The BBC is determined to do all it can to raise a smile and keep the country entertained during these testing times.

"We have lots of great shows already recorded, but we have also found ways to keep many other shows going so that the familiar faces people love will still be in their living rooms in the weeks and months ahead. I think that is incredibly important."

Adding: "Our pledge is offer the best escapism, fun and distraction we can, alongside the news and information everyone needs."

We cannot wait.

Gavin & Stacey will air at 8.15pm on BBC One weekly from 4th April.
