In what may be the first big conspiracy theory of 2021, fans of the iconic Disney film The Lion King believe they have discovered proof that Mufasa was eaten by Scar.
As the story goes, Scar traps Simba in a gorge with wildebeest and Mufasa rushes to rescue him, not realising it is all part of Scar's evil plot. After Mufasa saves his son, he gets injured and struggles to climb back up the cliff to safety.
Scar spots his brother, who begs for his life. Instead, Scare cruelly pierces Mufasa's paws with his claws and mocking whispers "long live the King!" before throwing his brother off the cliff. Mufasa then falls back into the gorge and is trampled to death.

One social media user, Christian Jones, has a theory about what may have happened after Mufasa's death and it is very grim.
In a series of clips, Christian decides to investigate what happened to Mufasa's body using Google. After discovering hyenas do not eat lions, they usually hunt and kill in packs.
In another Google search he finds no other animal eats lions except other lions. The result Christian finds through Google reads: "Yet carnivores do kill and eat other carnivores. A lot of the time the consumption of a rival is an act of dominance, particularly among lions."
Christian then points to a later scene in The Lion King where Scar mockingly picks up and talks to what appears to be a lion's skull. After putting all his evidence together, Christian comes to the conclusion Scar ate Mufasa after he died.

The video has gathered almost 4,000 retweets and over 8,000 likes so far and people have a lot to say. One person replied: "I've never been this shocked!!!!!!"
Another fan said: "The hidden Easter eggs in Disney cartoons are intense also its the soundtrack and facial expressions in this video for me".
"Scar officially the most wicked cartoon character," tweeted a third viewer.

A fourth added: "So Scar really ate Mufasa???" with several sad face emojis.
"My hatred for Scar just rises," said another Lion King fan.
One viewer offered a different explanation. They said: "To be honest, I always assumed the hyenas ate his remains. Or that he just decomposed."

Mufasa's death was voted the most heartbreaking movie scene.
And with the proud lion being one of the best dads in Disney history, it's fair to say that his death traumatised a whole generation.
