Kim Kardashian Accused Of 'Tone Deaf' Comments About Women's Attitudes To Work

Social media users criticised the The Kardashians star and some compared her comments to Molly-Mae's controversial '24 hours' statement.

Kim Kardashian has been criticised on social media after she made comments about women's attitudes to working in a new interview.

The Kardashian star joined her famous sisters for a chat with Variety about their new Hulu reality series. The Skims entrepreneur discussed the family's reality show empire and had some choice words for women looking to have a career in business.

"I have the best advice for women in business,” Kim told the publication. “Get your f*cking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”

Responding to criticism about whether the Kardashian-Jenners work, Kim said: "We focus on the positive. We work our asses off. If that’s what you think, then sorry. We just don’t have the energy for that. We don’t have to sing or dance or act; we get to live our lives — and hey, we made it. I don’t know what to tell you."

Social media was outraged by Kim's comments, and some Twitter users compared her statements to the controversial remarks made during Molly-Mae Hague's interview with Diary Of A CEO host Steven Bartlett.

The Love Island finalist was called "tone deaf" when she insisted “we all have the same 24 hours in a day as Beyoncé” when asked about her career success back in December.

"Why is it so difficult for these people to acknowledge their privilege. It's Molly Mae all over again," said one Twitter user.

Another response said: "Her comment is tone-deaf. No doubt that she worked hard, but starting off wealthy and connected gave her a great head start - and also allowed her to take risks that many people without those advantages can't afford to do."

While one woman shared: "Hey Kim Kardashian, every single person getting their selves up every day and working hard at a minimum wage job would like a word..."

However some Twitter users came to Kim's defence, claiming that despite coming from a fairly wealthy background, she still had to hustle to get to where she is today.

"Molly & Kim used their resources to get to where they are," one person stated. "You could go on love island. Once you have the contacts you can get pretty high up.

"They took advantage of that, how is that such a bad thing? Kim has made herself into a millionaire with multiple businesses like Molly."

Another Twitter user said: "[They're] right all these people crying about people being privileged while the go getters are determined to level up with no excuses."

While one woman said they took Kim's comments as a reference to women working in the same industry as her. "Not even gonna lie…. I think she’s talking about women like HER who are already privileged, well networked and have the funds who want to excel in business on the levels that she has…she could only be speaking about People in HER world who want to build empires out of thin air"

Tyla has contacted Kim Kardashian's reps for comment.
