Love Island stars Molly Smith and Tom Clare defended over wedding venue choice after criticism

Love Island stars Molly Smith and Tom Clare have tied the knot.

The newlyweds, who were crowned victors of the first series of the All Stars spin-off edition in 2024, announced the exciting news on Instagram.

They shared a 'just married' snap of them kissing while flower petals cascaded around them.

Molly, 32, stunned in a white short-sleeved mini dress with a matching hat and netted veil while 26-year-old Tom opted for a classic black suit and tie.

The pair announced they were engaged back in September after Tom popped the question in Dubai.

Molly later shared a snap to her Instagram Stories holding hands with Tom, showing off both their wedding rings alongside a gorgeous bouquet of flowers with the caption: "Husband and wife".

Attendees have since shared snaps and footage from the wedding to social media, and it didn't take long for fans to realise the wedding venue was none other than Stockport Town Hall.

After catching light of the news, some Love Island fans seemed to take issue with where the ceremony was held, as one TikToker slammed: "Stockport Town Hall. Where did all the Love Island money go?"

"Stockport Town Hall wtf," quipped a second as a third chimed in: "No way Stockport Town Hall."

"Stockport... wasn’t on my bingo card," commented a fourth as a fifth piped up: "No way this is Stockport."

Others, however, were far less fazed and instead took the time to congratulate the happy couple.

"Bruh y'all commenting the name of the town hall like it’s something to be embarrassed of. These are regular people that joined a love competition show. Let them do it the way they want to and keep your comments to yourself!" urged a sixth TikTok user.

A seventh outlined: "They are just a normal couple, yes they have a platform, but they don't need to show off just to suit others' narratives!

"They are getting married abroad & that will also be stunning. This was lovely."

"Literally one of the most gorgeous venues, how are people mocking it?" questioned another.

And a final TikToker echoed: "What a lovely civil ceremony. The love we want to see from Love Island!"
