Katie Piper has shared that she was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation this week after her husband noticed a peculiar black spot in her eye.
The writer, activist, and presenter told fans that her left eye was in immense pain, leaving her nauseous as she struggled to open her eyes in light.
When she got checked out by her eye specialist, Katie was devastated to hear that one of her biggest fears had come true.

Posting a selfie while wearing an eye patch, Katie told her one million Instagram followers that she had gone in for an 'emergency operation'.
She explained: "On Saturday my husband noticed a small black circle in my blind eye.
"I was excited thinking I had a pupil again, but by Sunday my left eye was extremely painful and couldn’t tolerate light, so I patched it up and put it down to old injuries.

"I’m used to being in some level of discomfort and I went to work."
She continued: "By Sunday night I felt nausea and in extreme pain. I got in touch with my eye specialist @sherazdaya @centreforsightuk and unfortunately he confirmed the black circle was a hole in my eye and the eye had perforated. This had always been a fear that it would happen."
The Loose Women panellist went on to explain that her eye specialist managed to source enough tissue to operate on her eye.

"I cannot thank him and his team enough, their knowledge and expertise but also how kind and caring they all are", she wrote.
"There may be some evil people in this world but there are also some pretty incredible people doing amazing things for people on a daily basis."

Katie has had problems with her eye ever since the devastating acid attack she was subject to back in 2008.
The acid thrown at her by Stefan Sylvestre under the orders of her former boyfriend Daniel Lynch, blinded Katie in her left eye.
On top of the hundreds of surgeries that Katie has had to replace the skin on her face after the attack, Katie has undergone a stem cell transplant procedure to repair some of the damage to her eye and had an eye operation to prevent the remainder of her sight from deteriorating.

In June, she was in hospital for a PGRF treatment - which involves an injection into the eyeball - in an effort to fix her cornea.
