Although almost four years have passed since we bid farewell to Jess and her roommates in New Girl, many fans are still speculating about one particular theory about the sitcom.
Now, Zooey Deschanel has finally confirmed what many New Girl obsessives suspected and we must say our minds are truly blown.
The series centred on Jess, a quirky millennial who moved into an apartment with three guys - Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris).
Over the course of the first season, which aired between 2011 and 2012, a will-they-won’t-they storyline unfolded between Jess and Nick, who often come to blows over their different opinions and personalities.

But one popular rumour which circulated at the time suggested that Zooey and Jake actually had “too much chemistry”, so much so they had to be separated while filming to avoid spoiling their eventual hook-up on screen.
During an episode of the iHeartRadio podcast Welcome to Our Show, the 42-year-old actress spoke to her New Girl co-stars Lamorne and Hannah Simone (who played Cece).
“Is it true that there was so much chemistry between you and Jake in the beginning that you guys couldn’t be in the same shot together?” Lamorne asked.

Zooey confirmed the rumour and said: “I remember them saying that. They were like, ‘listen, you guys have such great chemistry. This is a series, we have to play this out over time, and we don’t want to put you guys in the same storylines together.'”
She added: “Isn’t that a good thing? I think we all had good chemistry together from the get-go, in different ways. They did say they wanted to play out that storyline, that our chemistry was really good.”
Jess and Nick eventually share their very first kiss in the 15th episode of season 2 titled ‘Cooler’. After saying “goodnight” to each other, Nick pulls Jess in for a kiss, leaving her, and viewers, in a complete state of shock.

The series aired 146 episodes across seven seasons between 2011 and 2018. Jess and Nick even tie the knot at the end of the final season.
