Looking for a new series to get you in the Christmas spirit? Well Tim Allen has got you covered.

The actor is reprising his role as Santa Claus (aka Scott Calvin) for new Disney+ limited series The Santa Clauses, almost 30 years after the beloved Christmas movie first hit the big screen.

Check out the trailer here:

If you're just as big a fan of The Santa Clause trilogy as I am, then you'll need no reminding of what this film franchise entails.

But just in case you're not up to scratch, here's a quick recap: Scott Calvin was a regular divorced dad struggling to make Christmas magical for his son Charlie (Eric Lloyd).

But when Santa Claus fell off his roof on Christmas Eve, Scott found himself magically recruited as Santa's successor and had to learn the ropes of his new job while keeping it a secret from the rest of the world.

Of course, Scott eventually learnt how to become a great Santa Claus, and in the film's sequel, he even found the perfect Mrs Claus.

Aside from a little hiccup in The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, when Jack Frost (Martin Short) came to town, Scott has been living the dream in the North Pole.

But in this new six-part series, it looks like it's time for Scott to hang up his Santa hat to spend more time with his wife and kids.

First, though, Scott is going to have to pick the right successor. And if he chooses poorly, it could mean the end of Christmas as we know it.

Scott and Charlie Calvin are returning to our screens.
Walt Disney Pictures

An official synopsis of the new series reads: "Scott Calvin is back! After being Santa Claus for nearly thirty years, he’s as jolly as ever. But as Christmas declines in popularity, so does his Santa magic.

"Scott struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband."

This series will mark Tim Allen's first major acting role in 15 years, and he'll be joined by Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol Calvin (aka Mrs Claus), Eric Lloyd as Scott's son Charlie, and David Krumholtz as the head elf Bernard.

The first two episodes of The Santa Clauses premiered on Disney+ today, with the remaining four episodes to hit the streaming service weekly.
