Netflix Drops First Trailer Of The Witcher Season 2 With Henry Cavill

We cannot wait for this.

The Witcher fans, get excited - season two is just round the corner.

The first trailer for the new series has been released, and we cannot wait for this.

Watch the trailer below.

The synopsis for season two reads: "Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside."

As to be expected, Man Of Steel star Henry Cavill returns as the titular 'witcher' Geralt of Rivia, looking to continue his difficult quests across the Continent.

Fans will remember how the first season saw Geralt fulfilling the Law of Surprise to be bound to Ciri - the lion cub of Cintra. Season two picks things up between the two, with Geralt now taking Ciri to Kaer Morhen so Ciri can develop her own witcher skills.

We will also catch up with the show's third primary character, Yennefer of Vengerberg. After the savage Battle of Sodden Hill, she was found by Fringilla, the Nilfgaardian mage - and we can't imagine the pair are getting on particularly well, all things considered.

“We're digging deeper into [Fringilla’s] past and how she ended up at Nilfgaard,” showrunner Lauren S Hissrich told Vulture. “Who she is as a person, and how she and Yennefer ended up on such different paths."

Alongside Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan return as Yennefer and Ciri, respectively.

Season 2 also introduces a series of new faces, including Killing Eve's Kim Bodnia playing Witcher trainer Vesemir , Paul Bullion, Yasen Atour and Basil Eidenbenz are also joining the cast as fellow Witchers Lambert, Coën and Eskel, respectively.

The Witcher lands on Netflix on 17th December.
