Spooky season is well and truly upon us, and if you're looking for a frankly terrifying new thriller to get into, look no further than The Watcher.

You can watch the trailer below:

The Netflix series, which is based on a true story, was released on the platform on 13 October - and people are already terrified after binge-watching.

The thriller follows the Brannock family who, after moving into their dream home - an idyllic property in a beautiful New Jersey neighbourhood - receive a very creepy letter in their postbox from someone calling themselves 'The Watcher'.

The family find themselves being stalked by the anonymous person, who admits to being obsessed with both the house and its occupants.

The letters - along with some terrifying events that begin to take place within the house - begin to terrorise the Brannock family, who became torn between leaving the house and confronting their stalker.

Netflix explain: "After the Brannock family moves into what was supposed to be their suburban dream home, it quickly becomes a living hell.

Alongside a truly spooky storyline, there's a brilliant cast too, including Naomi Watts, Jennifer Coolidge, Bobby Cannavale, Mia Farrow and Margo Martindale.

The show is also co-created by Ryan Murphy - who was recently at the helm of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, as well as American Horror Story, so we know we're in good hands.

Eager viewers who have already started watching the seven-part series have been left shook by the show, with many admitting they no longer want to be in the house alone by themselves after watching the terrifying events unfold.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Watching the watcher as if im not home alone most nights and already constantly feel like someone's watching me."

While another said: "Now I’m scared to be alone on my house everything feels so creepy I don’t wanna be alone."

And a third added: "The watcher was a really good movie. But I’m definitely scared of being home alone."

Meanwhile a fourth commented: "Episode one of #TheWatcher was creepy AF…and so good!!"

And a fifth said: "One episode into The Watcher and my word!!!"

This sounds like the ultimate Halloween watch. You can catch all episodes of The Watcher on Netflix now.
