Netflix viewers were left blindsided this week after noticing a much-loved Suits star taking on a totally new on-screen role.
The series in question is a thriller by nature, includes a sprinkle of light-hearted laughter, and is somewhat dystopian in its outlook of the future - telling the tale of the bucolic American town Tall Pines.
Written by and starring Canadian comedian Mae Martin - alongside the likes of Alyvia Alyn Lind and Toni Collette - it focuses on two students, Abbie and Leila, who escape from an academy for 'troubled teens' and join forces with a local police officer to prove that life in Tall Pines is never quite as it seems. I know, super eerie.
We are, of course, talking about Wayward, the eight-part hit that has received mass acclaim across the board ever since its release last month (25 Sept), for considerations like LGBTQ+ representation, a stellar script and its propensity for a horde of spin-offs.
It isn't just the big-name lead cast that has set tongues wagging, however, but the special guest stars - one of whom is former Suits frontman Patrick J. Adams. You know, Mr Mike Ross himself?

That's right, everyone's favourite Seattle managing partner takes on a minor role in Wayward, playing Mr Turner, a vital figure in Abbie and Leila's high school history, and an ex-Tall Pines resident.

What viewers of the show quickly discover, however, is that Turner's affiliation with the town descends much deeper and darker than simply habitation. Anyone else got chills?
As we say, Adams' inclusion in the increasingly-popular series seems to have blown the minds of a number of fans - especially given that he took a partial break from high-profile television roles after leaving Suits in 2018.

And apparently, a number of fans claim it took a while for them to clock it was really him in his unnerving new gig.
Taking to X, one streaming service subscriber admitted: "It feels so weird seeing him in a movie other than Suits [laughing emoji]."
One confused commenter even had to double-check: "Is this the new season of Suits?"

Looking back on his law firm past, a third jibed: "Petition to send Mike Ross back to Pearson Hardman...."
"Mike Ross in wayward oh hello," teased another viewer.
Another added: "Mike just go back to the firm."
A sixth, meanwhile, seemingly found the revelation utterly incomprehensible: "Not that man from Suits."
