Home Alone fans watching the Christmas staple with children for the first time are being warned to brace themselves for the ‘6 7’ trend.
For many of us, it isn’t really the festive season until we’ve watched Macaulay Culkin fend off Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern from infiltrating his family home near Chicago.
If you or your kids have never seen Home Alone, the ultimate Christmas comedy which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary this year, then basically, Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay) is left at home by his parents Kate (Catherine O’Hara) and Peter (John Heard) over the holidays.
While the McCallisters battle to get back from their vacation in Paris, Kevin defends their Winnetka home from a pair of thieves, eventually reuniting with his family in time for the Big Day.

If 2025 is the first time you’re sticking Home Alone on for your children, then be warned - there’s a couple moments that are bound to send your kids into orbit.
This is because they feature the words ‘six, seven’, which has become an absolute monster of a trend online.
What is the viral ‘six, seven’ trend
If you’ve yet to hear about the ‘six, seven’ trend, then here’s a quick breakdown.
The meme, which originated from Skrilla’s song ‘Doot Doot (6 7)’, initially became popular with basketball fans before it spread like wildfire on social media.

Essentially Gen Alpha’s answer to the ‘21’ Vine trend, ‘six, seven’ has taken over classrooms, and has even made it to the FA Cup live draw, with the reference being made by former West Ham striker Michail Antonio.
If you want to get in on the meme, you basically have to point out ‘six, seven’ at any given opportunity.
When is ‘six, seven’ meme mentioned in Home Alone?
Now that you understand the ‘six, seven’ trend, you’ll be prepared for when the numbers crop up in the Yuletide movie.
Here’s exactly when the eruption is expected to happen:
During one scene, John Candy’s Gus Polinski tells Kate that he once left his own son at a funeral parlour, admitting it took him ‘six, seven weeks’ for the boy to recover.

In another scene, cousin Heather McCallister (Kristin Minter) does a headcount and says ‘six, seven’ out loud.
Your kids may also notice that the McCallister family also famously live at 671 Lincoln Boulevard.
Family’s warned about Home Alone ‘six, seven’ references
According to Yahoo! Entertainment, parents are warning others about sticking Home Alone on this year.
“Your kids will likely jump up and yell … just as mine did last night,” one Facebook user wrote. “YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! And yes, we're already watching Christmas movies here.”
They also confessed that they were ‘unprepared’ for their children’s reaction to the trend, claiming they ‘may have just stared with my mouth open for a second, processing what happened’.
Meanwhile over on X, one user admitted they’d had enough of the trend.
“I’m so bored of hearing 6 7 at this point I roll my eyes when I hear it. The trend is dead stop,” they admitted.
Happy viewing, you filthy animals!
