The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo movie is making its way to Netflix.

The bestselling historical fiction novel of the same title written by American author, Taylor Jenkins Reid, will be getting an exciting new film adaptation and has since found its director.

Netflix confirmed in a press release yesterday (29 June) that Leslye Headland, who has previously worked on titles including Russian Doll and Bacherlorette, will be directing the upcoming movie.

The novel, which went on to receive a Goodreads Choice Award nomination for Best Historical Fiction in 2017, tells the story of the fictional Old Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo, who, at age 79, gives a final interview to an unknown journalist, Monique Grant.

It's also a New York Times bestseller, so it's no surprise that the novel has grabbed the attention of #BookTokers and Bookstagrammers all around the globe.

And the streaming platform has since teased just what anticipating fans can expect from the adaptation.

"In a long awaited interview with a young journalist, Evelyn Hugo, an ageing Hollywood starlet, pulls back the curtain on her seven marriages," the film's synopsis begins.

"As she tells tales of Hollywood scandals, betrayals, and woe, she unveils shocking truths about her own life and the lives of everyone around her."

No actors have currently been linked to the project, with Netflix confirming: "There’s no word yet as to who will inhabit the roles of Evelyn Hugo, Monique Grant and the novel’s titular seven husbands."

It's safe to say, however, we're all very excited to find out.

Guess we all just have to stay tuned as production marches on.
