Hunter Moore, a convicted criminal and self-proclaimed ‘professional life ruiner’, found notoriety in the early 2010s when he founded the revenge porn website IsAnyoneUp.com.

The website gave internet users a platform to post explicit pictures of women and men without their permission with devastating consequences. Users would often share the person’s sensitive information, such as their full name and address.

At its height of popularity, the website had 350,000 unique users per day.

Anti-revenge porn activist Charlotte Laws is interviewed in the documentary.

One viewer took to Twitter and said: “Watching The Most Hated Man on The Internet & it’s actually frightening how many sheep worshiped this loser & for what?! He wasn’t funny or entertaining! he was a bully who got off on shaming misogyny & power & so many sheeple jumped on board! scary how many ppl [sic] are so easily led.”

While another Twitter user opined: “The Most Hated Man on the Internet on Netflix is…I don’t even know what to say tbh other than this man is a vile f***in person”.

"I have seen some crazy sh*t on Netflix," one viewer began. "But the most hated man on the internet might be the worst. This is just foul. This guy is vile."

A fourth viewer tweeted to call out the common theme of victim blaming: "I’m watching The Most Hated Man on the Internet on Netflix and this man is actually vile. it’s so sick how, not that long ago, victim blaming was so normal".

One Twitter user said they were 'totally appalled' to see how people gained 'sadistic pleasure' when using the website. "Started watching The Most hated man on the Internet on Netflix yesterday and totally appalled to see that US had/has no major laws for revenge porn and how people derive sadistic pleasure seeing others in pain and misery. Also the worst is the blind cult followers everywhere."

Moore refused to remove people’s nude images and he built a rabid cult following of those who supported him.

Featuring poignant interviews with multiple women and men who fought to have their pictures removed from the site, the documentary also examines the FBI investigation into the deplorable website.

Viewers also get to see how the famed hacker group Anonymous got involved to take down Moore and the website.
