Awards season might have come to an end, but fans of Netflix's latest crime-drama Adolescence are predicting an accolade or two next year as they continue making the same praise-worthy point about one aspect of the series.

For those out of the loop with the gritty new four-parter, it stars critically-acclaimed actor Stephen Graham as devoted father-of-two Eddie Miller, whose life is suddenly turned upside down when his 13-year-old son is arrested for murder.

Joining the cast is on-screen newcomer Owen Cooper as teenager Jamie, who stands accused of the brutal stabbing of his female classmate.

Top Boy actor Ashley Walters also makes an appearance in the series as the investigation's lead police officer, while The Crown's Erin Doherty plays Jamie's court-ordered psychiatrist.

Several aspects of the show have already seen Adolescence heaped in praise - including its unflinching portrayal of how knife crime affects hundreds of British families per year.

Members of the big-name cast have also been commended for their work - particularly youngster Cooper, with Jamie being his first ever major television role.

However, there's another aspect of the show that has thousands of viewers predicting a handful of awards later down the line - the way it was filmed.

Each of the four episodes of the series was recorded in one continuous shot - no breaks for actors, no seams between scenes, with the crew opening up about what would happen if one of the cast made a mistake during filming.

And these efforts certainly haven't got unnoticed by viewers watching from home.

"i just finished adolescence on Netflix and f**king hell. everyone on that show needs an emmy, how could they manage to act out a storyline like that all in one continuous shot it’s insane," one gushed on Twitter since the show's release last week.

"episodes 3 and 4 might be some of the best tv i’ve ever seen."

Another went on: "Adolescence. The camera at the end of show 2. How on earth did they do that? It’s impossible."

"The camera crew responsible for the one-take filming of episodes of the Netflix show ADOLESCENCE... you guys are incredible!" a third added.

Another pointed out: "1 set. 2 main actors. No cgi, no music score , no fancy camera cuts. Just brillliant screenwriting and astonishing acting skills. This is pure cinema."

"Just watched #Adolescence—a disturbing look at how social media influences can shape young teens," continued another.

"The fact that every episode was shot in one take, with no cuts or pauses, is seriously impressive."

In a new online Q&A shared yesterday, the brains behind the gut-wrenching thriller opened up on what they'd do if a mistake was made at any point during filming the continuous shots.

"It depends on the size of the mistake," Netflix bosses explained.

"In some instances they carried on, but often takes were completely abandoned. No pressure!"
