Margot Robbie Says There Could Be More Suicide Squad Movies On The Way

Margot Robbie Says There Could Be More Suicide Squad Movies On The Way

Harley Quinn could fight to see another day…

**Interview by Cameron Frew**

Superhero movies are all the rage right now, thanks to the numerous works of comic book giants Marvel and DC, but the latest flick in the oeuvre of action-packed films throws the spotlight onto the characters we all love to hate – the supervillains.

Our favourite troupe of miscreants and scoundrels are back in The Suicide Squad, coming five years after David Ayer's original 2016 film Suicide Squad. The new film, written and directed by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, sees a new group of villains (and some familiar faces) return to destroy a Nazi-era prison and lab in South America.

Naturally, this being The Suicide Squad, things don’t quite go to plan – seeing the villains having to fend off a giant, telepathic alien starfish.

While several of the original cast from the 2016 Suicide Squad movie stepped down from the new sequel (seeing another galaxy of A-Listers stepping in as they bring even crazier supervillains to the fore), the hugely popular and equally as deranged Harley Quinn will be back – expertly played as always by Margot Robbie.

The 31-year-old has played the psychiatrist turned Joker’s accomplice turned murderer twice before and has won widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of Harley – and now has confirmed that she will keep playing the vigilante – as long as people want her to.

Speaking exclusively to Tyla, Margot says she’s proud to have had a part in bringing a character to life on screen that will have such a legacy.

“I will at some point hang up the bat,” she explains. “I will keep playing Harley as long as people want me to.

“But I'm also so thrilled that there's a character that could kind of have a legacy like Macbeth, or Batman, or someone does like that where you do get to pass the gauntlet and let other actors have a go at the character.

“I think that would be so cool that if there was enough popularity and enough of a fanbase for Harley that people would wanna see other actors play her too, that would be amazing.

“But I would like to play her another few times before that happens.”

Margot may need a rest from becoming the vigilante, having played Harley in three movies over the last five years.

So it may be a little while before we see the Hollywood star dress up as ‘Daddy’s little monster’ once more.

“It’s exhausting,” she admitted to Entertainment Weekly. “I was like, 'Oof, I need a break from Harley, because she's exhausting.' I don't know when we're next going to see her.”

We can’t wait to see Harley back in action soon…
