As the fourth season of Stranger Things takes Netflix by storm, fans are realising why the actor behind 001 looks familiar.

Jamie Campbell Bower, 33, has also starred in a host of other big-name productions.

Following the release of season four of the hit sci-fi show on 27 May, fans took to Twitter to share where they recognised him from.

The British actor played a member of the Volturi in the Twilight saga, which could explain why he was able to seamlessly step into the shoes of another villain.

Alongside a picture of Caius, one fan remarked: “No wonder 001 looked oddly familiar.”

A second added, with extra caps for emphasis: “Also the whole time i was like 001 looks so familiar. HE PLAYS CAIUS IN TWILIGHT. HES IN THE VOLTURI. my fav movies and my fav show, put together <3 love #StrangerThings.”

The English actor is also known for his portrayal of Young Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

“THIS GUY IS YOUNG GRINDELWALD,” wrote a third fan.

A fourth added: “I CAN’T BELIEVEEE ITTT! AHAHA. Spot the difference!

“001/Gellert Grindelwald pose

“This is my multiverse of madness right now guys!"

As well as this, Bower played Jace in Immortal Instruments and Anthony in Tim Burton’s hit musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

“‘I’ve been trying to figure out why the actor of 001 looks so familiar since i started the season yesterday,” wrote one Twitter user. “I figured it out, THAT‘S JACE FROM THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS.”

“001 IS THE DUDE FROM THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS AND TWILIGHT WE KNEW HE LOOKED FAMILIAR,” another viewer added.

A third wrote: “Everyone obsessing over 001 like omg jace herondale omg grindelwald omg twilight omg, but yall are sleeping on his sweeney todd era i feel you johanna i sing that s**t in my sleep [sic].”

Bower’s role in Strangers Things was shrouded in secrecy to avoid any spoilers. His name, 001, is a reference to his character being Dr Brenner’s first experiment, but he was initially said to be playing someone else entirely.

The producers wrote on the Stranger Things Twitter that Bower would be playing Peter Ballard, a ‘caring orderly at a psychiatric hospital’.

Bower later apologised for the red herring, telling Entertainment Weekly that he didn’t know 'where the name Peter Ballard came from'.

He added: “I can only apologise to fans of the show for being part of such a massive red herring.

“I remember seeing it and being like, ‘Okay, guys. Cheers! That’s going to be a tough one if anybody asks me, but I’ll just go with the party line’.”
