Ryan Gosling Just Hinted That Ken Could Have An Action Role In Barbie Movie

Move over, Action Man!

Very little is known about Greta Gerwig's Barbie live-action film, which is only adding to the insurmountable excitement.

Ever since the first photos from the film shoot were released online, people have been desperate to know more about the flamboyant rom-com, but the cast are keeping their lips well and truly sealed on this one.

However, in a recent chat with Ryan Gosling – who plays Ken in the highly anticipated flick – we picked up on some subtle hints that Barbie's (Margot Robbie) bleach blonde beau could be transitioning from preppy trophy boyfriend to macho action man.

While promoting his first major action film The Gray Man, Ryan hinted that his character Court Gentry might have more in common with Ken than you would think.

The Netflix film, which also stars Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, and Regé-Jean Page, tells the story of a top CIA agent who uncovers some compromising agency secrets, sparking a global hunt from assassins set loose by his former colleague.

For his transformation into a full-blown action star, Ryan had to undergo rigorous stunt training. With the man who famously played Captain America as an opponent, we can only imagine it was intense.

Meanwhile, we suspect that Ryan might have had to make use of his dance background for the Barbie movie, after his cast mate Simu Liu spilled to GQ that he had been taking part in some pretty intense dance rehearsals in preparation for the film.

As an actor brand new to action and stunt training, but with a history of dance training, it was only right that we asked Ryan how he found the contrast.

Was this a sneaky question to try and find out more about the top secret plot line? Mind your business.

Ryan plays a former CIA agent on the run in Netflix's The Gray Man.

"I feel like I'm going to spoil things if I answer that," he teased.

Eventually giving in, the actor revealed: "The training for this [The Gray Man] helped with Barbie.

"And I think the fun part for me is that I know Ken would love this movie. I think this would be Ken's favourite movie."

How exactly does one relate to the other? Ryan's keeping that one to himself.

So while we're not certain if Ken will be putting on his dancing shoes just yet, there's a chance we could see him in a sparring match, jumping from dangerous heights, or chasing down bad guys.

Not too long ago, Ryan revealed that Ken will be 'going through some stuff' in the Barbie movie which, as we all know, is the classic origin story for every great action her.

"That Ken life is even harder than the ‘Gray Man’ life, I think," he spilled.

“Ken’s got no money, he’s got no job, he’s got no car, he’s got no house. He’s going through some stuff."

Margot Robbie will play Barbie in the film.

Alongside Ryan, Margot, and Simu, the Barbie movie stars Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Mackey, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Issa Rae, and Michael Cera.

Barbie is scheduled to hit cinemas in July 2023.
