Peaky Blinders Fans Are Loving Tommy's Subtle Dig At Michael In Season 6

Peaky Blinders Fans Are Loving Tommy's Subtle Dig At Michael In Season 6

If you blink, you'll miss it!

Peaky Blinders fans are losing it after realising that Tommy took a very subtle dig at Michael in the first episode of season six.

It all goes down when Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) got his cousin Michael (Finn Cole) put behind bars for by calling in the tip about his opium-filled briefcase.

When asked who's calling, Tommy used a name that some super-fans were rather familiar with. Watch the scene here.

Tommy says that he is a "concerned citizen" named Mr Jones.

Coincidentally, Mr Jones is also the false name that Michael suggested Tommy use to protect his political reputation back in the season five finale. It was also the episode title.

Fans were shook when they realised the subtle connection, taking to Twitter to discuss the glorious 'irony.'

One tweeted: "THE WAY TOMMY [REFERRED] TO MR JONES!!!!!!! I love those flash backs from series 5 ❤️❤️"

A second added: "The irony had me screaming."

While a third viewer wrote: "Yeah I'm still thinking about tommy ending Michael using the same name that Michael suggested at S5 when he wanted to take Tommy's empire, I loved the irony in that part."

Looking ahead to this week's episode, fans are already making their predictions for how Tommy will react when a new character steps on the scene.

Airing a sneak peek of what's to come, Peaky Blinders creators introduced fans to Lady Diana Mitford, Oswald Moseley's wife.

Like her husband Oswald Moseley, Lady Diana Mitford was heavily involved in fascist political causes. The couple were married at the home of Joseph Goebbels and hosted Adolf Hitler as their guest of honour.

Reacting to the exciting preview, fans are certainly excited to see Diana Mitford give Tommy a run for his money.

Peaky Blinders continues Sundays at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
