Netflix Viewers Are Seriously Divided After Watching Keep Breathing

Netflix Viewers Are Seriously Divided After Watching Keep Breathing

The series is number one on Netflix.

A new TV series has shot to the top of the Netflix charts, but those who have already tuned in to watch are seriously divided over it.

Six-part survival drama Keep Breathing seems to have the same effect on people as marmite – viewers either love it and rave about it, or hate it with a burning passion, and there's no middle ground.

Check out the trailer here:

Keep Breathing tells the story of Liv (Melissa Barrera), a New York lawyer whose private plane crashes in the remote Canadian frontier. All alone in the unforgiving wilderness, Liv must battle the elements and overcome her own personal demons to survive.

On its first day on the streaming service last month, Keep Breathing shot to number two in the charts. But after a weekend of binge-watching, the series claimed the top spot across multiple regions, including the US and the UK, knocking Virgin River from its throne.

While watching Liv learn to fend for herself in the wild, and relive traumatic flashbacks from her past, viewers formed their opinions on the series – and they just can't seem to agree with each other.

For some people, Keep Breathing was an infuriating watch, with far too many flashback and hallucination scenes and – for those who stuck it out – a blood-boiling ending.

People either love this show or they hate it.

"#KeepBreathing is a prime example of how too many flashbacks can ruin a TV show/ movie," tweeted one unimpressed viewer.

A second agreed: "Too many flashbacks and hallucination scenes and not enough of the survival."

And a third complained: "I repeat #KeepBreathing is the worst show of all time. I wish I could get my three hours back of my life."

Disappointed after making it to the series finale, one Twitter user asked: "Wtf kind of ending was that?"

Another admitted: "Dang, I wish we could've gotten more from #KeepBreathing ending!"

On the other hand, many fans can't understand the criticism at all, and have argued that the show is perfect just as it is.

One baffled viewer asked: "Why is Netflix's keep breathing getting so much hate [?] It is a good show, some beautiful camera shots and good pacing and you end up rooting for Liv in the end so she can live and accept and let go of her trauma and see herself worthy of love!!"

A second tweeted: "For being a limited series, #KeepBreathing is so good and soul touching. It left me in tears and wanting more!"

Listing out just some of the themes that the show touches on, a third wrote: "Childhood trauma. Mental illness. Abandonment. Deceit. Nature. Survival. Resiliency. Determination. Loss. Love. Growth. This is #KeepBreathing and should be a must watch mini-series. Screw the reviews."

And a fourth simply penned: "Wow I feel so many things after watching this. I'm not sure what my thoughts even are. I genuinely loved this show."

Meanwhile, some strong-minded viewers are already changing their minds after having some time to think about the series.

"So I watched #KeepBreathing on Netflix and, at first, I thought it was dragged out and about threw my remote when I realised how it ended... yelled & everything lol," tweeted one fan.

"But after sleeping on it and letting it settle in, I realised that it isn't a show, it's a free therapy session."

So, what do you think? Is this one worth the watch after all, or should we skip it?
