Netflix announce new Lindsay Lohan film release date in celebration of October 3rd

What better way to mark Mean Girls day than with a new movie landing next month?

As any Mean Girls fan can tell you, today is a very special day because ‘on October 3rd, he asked me what day it was’. And, as we all know, it was October 3rd.

And to mark what is internationally recognised as Mean Girls Day, Netflix has shared the release date for a brand new festive movie starring Cady Heron… sorry, I mean Lindsay Lohan.

Yep, Lindsay Lohan is returning to our screens with a brand new Christmas romantic comedy and if you’re fan of classic cheesy holiday movies then you’re in for a treat.

Falling for Christmas, which lands on Netflix on 10 November, centres on a newly engaged, spoilt heiress Sierra (played by Lohan) who is involved in a skiing accident in the run-up to Christmas.

After being diagnosed with amnesia, the heiress ends up in the ‘cosy care’ of a down-on-his-luck widower (played by Chord Overstreet) and his young daughter (played by Olivia Perez) during the festive period.

Without yet seeing the movie, I think it’s safe to say sparks will fly and we can expect some mistletoe kisses.

In a recent interview Lohan was asked to sum up Sierra in three words, to which she replied: “Extravagant. Temperamental. Glamorous.” I wouldn’t expect anything less from Ms Lohan, to be honest.

Talking about the movie and her love of Christmas, she told Netflix: "It's such a refreshing, heartwarming romantic comedy, and I miss doing those kinds of movies.

“Christmas is a time when family comes together. It’s just such a loving holiday.”

She also revealed that she did her own stunts, adding: "All the stunt scenes were really fun for me because I haven't gotten to do that much in a lot of my films… When I'm flying off the hill, attempting to ski well and not doing it."

As you can imagine, Lohan fans are already excited about the upcoming release, with one person responding: “I’m unreasonably excited about this.”

Another said: “November 10 is now a national holiday. I don't make the rules, Lindsay Lohan does.”

The festive feel-good movie lands on Netflix on 10 October.

While a third added: “it’s the most wonderful timeeeeee of the year!”

Someone else commented: “I'm fed up with Christmas movies but I'll be tuning in just for her.” Fed up with Christmas movies? We haven’t even had Halloween yet, pace yourself.

And we don't have too long to wait until we get to see Lohan in all her festive glory, because Falling for Christmas arrives on Netflix on 10 November.
