Fans of the ITV2 dating show were upset that Teddy was made to look like a villain because the photo was taken out of context during a game of truth or dare.
The broadcasting watchdog Ofcom received 5,249 complaints about Love Island in the week between 27th July and 2nd August 2021.
The episode in which the OG girls received the postcard from Casa Amor aired on 28th July. It attracted 4,330 official complaints.
Ofcom said: "The majority of complainants considered that a postcard sent to female contestants was misleading and caused unnecessary distress."
A further 738 Ofcom complaints were logged for episodes later in the week with reference to the postcard.
Ofcom added: “Viewers objected to an alleged ‘manipulation of Faye & Teddy’ following on from the Casa Amor postcard issue."
Faye and Teddy shippers were pleased to see the couple rekindle their romance on Sunday's episode.
The couple agreed to go for a chat on the terrace and things got pretty cosy. Faye even tried to put a pillow down to try and separate them.
After some playful banter, the chat got pretty serious with Faye admitting how 'rattled' she felt after seeing the postcard with the photo of Teddy kissing another girl. Faye seemed to soften slightly after this, prompting Teddy to lean in for the kiss.
Love Island continues weeknights and Sundays on ITV2 and the ITV Hub. Episodes are available to watch the next day on BritBox.
