The Harry Potter world is so full of magic objects and whimsical artefacts that it must be almost impossible for witches and wizards to keep track.
At least, that's the excuse we're using for Harry after one fan pointed out that the boy wizard might have been using the pensieve wrong throughout the entire film series - and no one has thought to correct him.
The magical basin, kept in Dumbledore's office, is used to store and review memories as seen in The Goblet of Fire, The Half Blood Prince, and The Deathly Hallows: Part II.
To view memories through the pensieve, Harry dunks his head straight into the basin. But upon further review, some Potterheads have suggested that Harry is going a little bit over the top.

In a Reddit poar, a fan who had been working on the theory wrote: "So I've been thinking about this thing for a while now. The first time Harry dives into the Pensieve he does so by accident, simply getting too close to the surface with his nose and therefore going in head first.
"I believe very strongly that this is not the necessary way to go, that you could just as easily dip your finger in, or any other part of your body, but since Harry went in like this the first time he keeps doing it in the same way.
"So when Dumbledore and Harry have their sessions in The Half Blood Prince, and Dumbledore offers Harry to go into the Pensieve first, I imagine Dumbledore thinking something along the lines of 'Wtf, why is he doing it like that? 😂'.

"But since Dumbledore is a polite man and doesn't want to embarrass Harry, he never says anything about it, he just giggles to himself as he watches Harry do a face dive every time. Also imagine if someone were to explain it to Harry in 20 years or so, like 'Dude, just the tip of your finger'. I don't know, it just makes me smile 😊."
It's never explicitly explained how best to use the Hogwarts pensieve, and since Harry technically taught himself how to use it, its quite possible he could be doing it wrong. That could be a bit embarrassing...
Arguing in Harry's defence another fan pointed out that diving head-first into the pensieve might have "something to do with 'submerging your senses' into the memory since your eyes ears mouth nose are all on your face."
Let's hope that's the case. Poor Harry can never catch a break!

Hardcore Potterheads are always surprising us with the details they notice when they rewatch the iconic film series.
Just last week, fans discussed a very subtle but heart-warming detail about Harry's scar in the final scenes of The Deathly Hallows: Part II.
You can read about that here.
