Emma Stone only discovered she suffers from disease after filming fake orgasm scene in film

She was filming a fake sex scene in the 2010 rom-com Easy A at the time

Emma Stone has revealed she only discovered she had a long-term condition after filming a fake sex scene in one of her movies.

Imagine trying to explain that to your GP.

The 34-year-old star was filming the rather excellent 2010 comedy Easy A, when she made the health discovery.

For those of you unfamiliar with the teen rom-com, it centres on high school student Olive (played by Emma) who lies to her best pal Rhiannon (played by Aly Michalka) about her sexual experiences, but is overheard by a classmate - now, if you can remember back to your school days, you’ll know that rumours such as that spread like wildfire, and that’s exactly what happens here.

But instead of coming clean, Olive uses her newly acquired reputation and boost in status to help out some other less-than-popular students.

Ultimately, Olive wins the heart of Todd (played by a young Penn Badgley) and they ride off together (on a lawnmower) into the sunset.

However, the filming of one particular scene had some pretty life changing consequences for Emma.

In the flick, Olive is asked by her gay - but not out - friend Brandon (played by Dan Byrd) if she will pretend to be in a sexual relationship with him so he stops being bullied.

She agrees and to make the whole thing believable, the pair sneak off at a party and pretend to have sex.

To simulate the sounds of their fake love-making, the pair start to jump on the bed and make a lot of noise.

And it was during all of this commotion that poor Emma discovered she had asthma.

"Oh, for the love, I can't even simulate sex without dying!" she told MTV during the film at the time of promotion.

"I had a little asthma attack, without any prior knowledge that I had asthma, during the scene where we had to jump up and down for hours and hours screaming and yelling on the bed."

Emma said the whole thing had been fairly ‘humiliating’ for her.

“[It] was humiliating, because it was the second day of shooting," she explained.

"Here's what it's going to be like the whole movie, as I'm breathing into an oxygen tank.

"The crew was like, 'She's going to be a real blast. Wow. Amazing. A 20-year-old having an asthma attack'."

But Emma didn’t let that particular on-set experience hold her back - as she’s since carved out a very successful career with roles in Zombieland, The Amazing Spider-Man, Cruella and, of course, La La Land, for which she won an Oscar.
