Umbrella Academy Fans 'Sobbing' Over Elliot Page's Transition Scene

*Warning: The Umbrella Academy spoilers ahead*

Prior to coming out as a trans man, Canadian actor Elliot Page was starring in the hit Netflix show The Umbrella Academy.

Now, fans have been left 'sobbing' after his transition was also experienced by his on-screen character, Viktor Hargreeves. Watch below:

The transition was handled incredibly sensitively by the producers of the show, and fans on Twitter were overwhelmed by the scene.

One wrote: "im sobbing can you hear me im crying [sic]."

A second added: "2 episodes into season 3 of the umbrella academy and Elliot Page as Viktor already has me crying. Talking about how making changes toward your real gender affects you. I'm going to be sobbing forever [sic]."

"VIKTOR IS MY F**KING HUSBAND THE LOVE OF MY LIFE LOOK AT HIM [sic]," gushed a third fan.

"Love the way Viktor comes out as trans in [The Umbrella Academy]," wrote a fourth viewer. "His siblings are all like Vanya you're an idiot. And he's like actually I'm a man and my name is Viktor now. And they're just like oh congrats king we love and support you but you're still a f**king idiot."

A fifth added: "this show makin me cry when viktor comes out. its like a blessing to finally see myself in media like this. when hes looking at his reflection and finally happy with what he sees has me bawling my eyes out i just want more representation like this [sic]."

Page came out as a trans man on social media back in December 2020.

He wrote: "I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life."

The actor then opened up about his gratitude for everyone who has supported him in his journey and vowed to help other trans people with his platform.

"To all trans people who deal with harassment, self loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better."

Elliot was the first person to announce his character was transitioning, and it was later confirmed by Netflix to The A.V. Club.

The streaming service said his character 'will come out as transgender in season 3 and be henceforth known as Viktor Hargreeves.'

All three seasons of the Umbrella Academy are available to stream on Netflix.
