Crime author Michael Peterson was charged with her 2001 murder and was found guilty.

He has always maintained his innocence including after he he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in October 2003.

In 2017 he submitted an Alford plea to the reduced charge of voluntary manslaughter and the judge sentenced him to time already served and he was freed.

Peterson’s case has been documented in a 13-episode Netflix documentary series and those who watched it are convinced Colin’s mannerisms and voice is spot on.

Watch the trailer below:

One viewer tweeted: “Colin Firth is doing WORK in The Staircase. After watching the documentary years ago, he is nailing the husband’s voice and mannerisms. Uncanny.”

A second person tweeted: “Watching The Staircase Colin Firth has Michael Peterson’s voice down pat, he sounds exactly like him!”
