The network confirmed the series' return with a short sneak peak featuring the iconic eye logo and theme music during the Love Island 2022 finale.

Big Brother first launched on Channel 4 in 2000 with Davina McCall as the host before it switched to Channel 5 in 2011 however this version, along with the celebrity edition, were both cancelled in 2018.

The series is based on a Dutch format which debuted on TV screens in 1999. More than 500 series of the show have aired around the world in over 64 countries and regions.

Globally, the format has maintained huge popularity, particularly in the US where their Big Brother adaptation has aired continuously since 2000.

Now, the UK series will jump over to ITV where it will join Love Island, The Cabins and many other reality show offerings.

Only the civilian series has been confirmed right now, but a new celebrity series has not been ruled out.
