Adele's highly-anticipated CBS interview and performance with Oprah Winfrey aired in the US on Sunday night and a behind-the-scenes clip involving the talk show legend has fans crying with laughter.

Oprah shared a clip of herself and pop star Lizzo belting the lyrics to Adele's ballad Hello as the singer performed off-screen on stage.

And in true Oprah fashion she has now gone viral, because Adele fans are convinced she doesn't actually know the words.

While it does look like Oprah missed a few lines, she was having the time of her life at the concert.

And this isn’t the first time Oprah has famously forgotten the lyrics to one of her favourite ballads.

An iconic meme was born when Mariah Carey appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to perform We Belong Together, and shots of Oprah mouthing the wrong words went viral years later.

They saw the funny side of the faux pas, however, and even recreated it on TikTok in September 2020 in anticipation for Mariah's interview with Oprah for the Apple TV+ series The Oprah Conversation

“One thing about miss O, she won’t know the lyrics but chile she’ll SING,” joked one Twitter user.

After watching the hilarious clip, another Adele fan said: “Oprah not knowing the lyrics must be favourite genre.”

And a third person tweeted: “When the song is good but you don't know the lyrics. We've been there. Many times. We feel you.”

A fourth Twitter user wrote: "One thing about Oprah, is that she won't know the lyrics."

The global singer took to the stage at the stunning Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles to perform hits from her catalogue, as well as tracks from new album 30, in front of an all-star audience.

While the CBS special doesn't yet have a UK air date, it's not long until Adele's ITV special - which airs on Sunday 21st November.
