Let’s face it, the Maldives is the ultimate holiday destination for sun-seekers — but the cost of flights alone is enough to cause your eyes to start watering.

Well, Brits can now enjoy Indian Ocean vibes their doorstep, as a stunning Maldives-style lodge has just opened in the UK, complete with water villas.

The newly renovated Clawford Lakes Resort and Spa has thrown open its doors in Holsworthy, North Devon.

There are 17 lakes that span the holiday park resort, with the luxury chalets offering waterside views — and to top it all off, they come with private hot tubs.

With prices starting at £52 per person, per night, holidaymakers can relax in the floating lodges or sunbathe on the private floating decking while they take in the stunning lakeside views.

Those enjoying their vacation time can also hit up the resort's spa and pool complex, which boasts a jaw-dropping infinity pool, sauna, leisure centre and treatment rooms.

For people who prefer a more active getaway, there are also a range of outdoor activities on offer, like paddle boarding, cycling, and fishing.

Book yourself in for a spa treatment and schedule in some self-care.

If you don't mind downgrading from a water villa to an apartment you can nab yourself a deal from just £38 per person, per night; while a two-person floating pod costs £52 pp.

The accommodation is so cosy.

Guests looking to take a look around the area will be located 22 miles north of Dartmoor National Park, and a 30-minute drive from Cornwall’s north coast. So the likes of Bude, Padstow and St. Ives are well within easy access.

A spokesperson said: “Set in this incredible rural valley, Clawford Lakes Resort and Spa has an amazing 30 acres of lakes and is quite simply the perfect canvas to design a very special self-catering holiday experience.
