Couple broke world record by kissing for nearly two and a half days

Other couples attempting to break the record reportedly fainted around them

Did you know that you could set the record for the longest kiss ever? All you have to do is find some willing to kiss you for more than two days straight - and then do it.

The record was set almost 10 years ago by Ekkachai Tiranarat and Laksana Tiranarat, who kissed continuously for 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds.

The history-making smooch took place in Thailand at an event organised by Ripley's Believe It or Not!, in Pattaya, kicking off on 12th February 2013 and running until 14th.

The couples were not assessed on the quality of their kisses.

Nine couples entered the annual competition, including a married couple in their 70s.

However, it was previous record holders Ekkachai Tiranarat and Laksana Tiranarat who came out on top, scooping a cash prize and two diamond rings as well as another Guinness World Records title.

So it seems Ekkachai and Laksana have got their lips locked firmly around the title and have no plans to let it slip.

According to Times Now, other couples fainted as they attempted to out snog the record-holders, who cried when they eventually unpeeled themselves from each other as victors.

A gay male couple, who had clinched the record the previous year, fell two minutes short of the new record - and by fell, I mean quite literally.

You see, as well as being a completely bizarre thing to do, kissing continuously for two days straight is extremely physically taxing (not that I've tried it).

The rules stipulate that competitors must be stood the entire time, for some reason, and they must keep their lips pressed together.

As such, they were unable to sleep, slurping food and liquid through a straw.

They even went to the toilet together, which presumably had to be observed by officials (I'm not sure if any of them had a sh*t).

"They were very exhausted because they did not sleep for two-and-a-half days, they had to stand all the time so they were very weak," Sompron Naksuetrong, vice president of Ripley's Believe It or Not!, told AFP.

So if you fancy making this Valentine's Dat a memorable one, maybe you and your partner should book a couple of days off and endlessly snog (p***isng and sh***ing throughout).

What could be more romantic?
