When it comes to spicing up their sex life, some people will try all manor of absurdities.

According to jaw-dropping new statistics, however, this includes inserting unconventional objects into their nether-regions in the hope that it'll enhance their sexual pleasure - even if it also poses a major risk to their health.

The staggering findings were released by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission's database of emergency room visits, given that a number of these intimate cases resulted in the need for medical intervention.

That's right - apparently, an astonishing number of people are referring themselves to hospital each year, with complaints that something downright insane has become lodged in their genitalia.

Already, Tyla reported on the most outlandish items that were retrieved from patients' rectums.

For those who missed it, the list included a dog chew toy, several shampoo bottles, a corn cob holder, a collection of marbles, a sandal, a vape, uncooked pasta and a whopping 24 inch dildo.

When it comes to the items that were pulled from people's vaginas, however, the list was considerably more wacky - I know, just when you probably thought that wouldn't be possible.

Without further ago, here you go:

  • Holiday bell
  • Lighter
  • Aluminum foil
  • Cotton balls
  • Popsicle stick
  • Plastic orca
  • Gem stone
  • 'Inserted two diamond rings in her vagina while at a party in fear they would be stolen'.

And it doesn't stop there...

  • Latex glove
  • Bath bomb
  • Small plastic mermaid
  • Flower toy
  • 'Reports a bag of marijuana has been in her vagina for 2 days and is uncomfortable'
  • Bracelet charms
  • 2 vibrators
  • Penis ring

Nope, we're not quite finished yet...

  • 2 penis rings
  • 2 spoons
  • 'Was using a piece of plastic to masturbate when got spooked by the wind outside and threw the sheet over herself in the process lodging the piece of plastic deeper into her vagina and wasn't able to retrieve'
  • Hairbrush
  • Detergent pod
  • Plunger cap
  • Beer bottle, 'was on a cruise on her honeymoon'

Yep, we'll let those sink in - not too deeply, though!
