A plane passenger narrowly escaped being implicated in an intricate web of crime recently, after a fellow flier asked him to switch seats.
American man Dakota - who goes by @thisdudenameddk on Instagram - took to the snap-sharing app to share his story, with his followers claiming they were blindsided by the countless plot twists.
Revealing he was travelling on commercial flights from Florida to Chicago, and then from Chicago to Kansas City, he captioned his viral video: "Be very careful if you ever switch someone seats on an airplane, because it could have serious consequences."

Kicking things off, Dakota revealed he'd been welcomed onto the first leg of his journey home, and had been seat on the aisle next to two older men.
He began: "Some lady comes up to me, and she says, 'Hey, would you mind switching seats with me. I've got a seat that is a little bit further in front'.
"So, for me, I'm thinking, 'Oh, okay, actually, that wouldn't be a bad deal. I'll be closer to the front'.
"That's good 'cause I'll be able to get off the plane quicker, you know? Getting off the plane sucks - the plane lands, you feel like you're sitting there forever. People start standing up, it gets awkward and weird and sucks, right?"

The Instagram star then continues of the woman: "But then she says, 'I really wanna sit by my son.' So, I ask her. I'm like, 'Well, these guys are older than you', and she gets super weird.
"Her explanation didn't make sense, so I get this gut feeling that, this is really weird, don't do it. So, I'm like, 'Sorry, I can't switch seats', and she starts flipping out on me, calling me names. I'm like, 'Lady, calm down'.
"She's calling me stupid and [telling me] how I need to switch seats with her, and I'm 'racist'. Great thing to tell someone that you want to switch seats with.

"Flight attendant is like, 'Ma'am, you need to go and sit down, this is getting ridiculous'. So, I didn't think anything of it."
Dakota went on to explain: "Then, probably five minutes later, TSA (Transportation Security Administration) along with the police come on, and get this lady. She's not cooperating, and they end up taking her off in handcuffs. So, I didn't know what happened."
"We get back to Kansas City and I asked the flight attendant," the user went on. "They were like, 'Yeah, it's a good thing you didn't because that may have causes some confusion. She stole someone's credit card and their Social Security'.
"Their credit had opened a credit card in their name, so she was committing identity theft and had been buying flights all around America.

"She had gotten two other people to switch with her, and they hadn't really had problems, they hadn't gotten caught so it didn't matter, but this time, could have gotten in trouble.

"So, just be careful if someone tries to switch your seat on an airplane."
A number of Dakota's online fans rushed to the comments, admitting to being guilty of switching seats whenever asked.

"OMG!!! I have done it many times just because they were old people and they wanted comfortable seats," one user confessed.
"Well, seeing your post today has given me a very good lesson."
Another wrote: "Wow! Never thought about it in this way!! I have switched seats with people so they can seat with their families! Gosh!!!"
